Biography

Frederik Hellmann (1963) successfully completed his studies at the Hogere Zeevaartschool in Amsterdam (1990-1993), qualifying as a master mariner on all ships. After finishing the Middelbare Zeevaartschool in 1982, Frederik started his nautical career as an AB for Sylvia Cargo.He then moved on to positions as second and first mate for Smit-Lloyd and Wijnne & Barends, where he acquired experience with supply and merchant navy vessels. While working for Smit International, Frederik followed a Dynamic Position Officer course (1992) and was involved in heavy lift and diving operations on board diving support vessels. In 1993, Frederik joined Van Oord where he worked as a captain and superintendent in rock placement and cable lay operations.Since 2006, he has been involved in the offshore wind farm industry as a Project and Construction Manager for various wind farm projects.

Strengths & qualities

Particular strengths are change management, and motivating and inspiring employees. I feel authentic and confident in this position. Teaching others about the mind-set specific to the marine industries is another ingrained habit. I am motivated and sensitive to my working environment, where I have worked for many years with marine contractors and clients. My leading qualities are my keen, pragmatic, marine-related affinity with technology and my thinking about people management, coaching, close contact with other people and their work, my hands-on mentality, my result- and solution-driven approach, an empathic personality and my ability to work easily at all management levels.
